STC RMC honorary ranks

The society has three elective, honorary ranks: associate fellow, fellow, and honorary fellow.

The highest rank that the society confers upon a member is that of fellow. Those who become fellows are associate fellows who have attained such eminence in the arts and sciences of technical communication that they are designated among the select few whose service has distinguished both the society and the profession. Fellows are recommend by a nominating committee consisting of STC fellows and are elected by a two-thirds vote of all members of the board of directors.

Fellows

The STC Rocky Mountain Chapter currently includes the following individuals who were elected fellows:

  • Art Elser
  • George Hoerter
  • William Horton
  • JoAnn Hackos
  • Don Zimmerman

Associate Fellows

The society recognizes and honors deserving senior members by conferring upon them the rank of associate fellow. Those selected as associate fellows are exceptional individuals who have demonstrated a consistent pattern of meaningful contributions to the society over a period of years. The rank of associate fellow is elective and honorary. It is based upon the recommendations of a committee of fellows and associate fellows, and is conferred by a two-thirds vote of the entire board of directors.

The STC Rocky Mountain Chapter currently includes the following individuals who were elected associate fellows:

  • Linda Gallagher
  • Patty J. Gillespie
  • Barbara J. Miller
  • Martha Sippel
  • Mary Jo Stark
  • Frank Tagader
  • Hugh Templeton
  • Nancy E. Walters

Honorary Fellows

Individuals selected as honorary fellows are not members of STC, but have achieved eminence in the field of technical communication or have performed a significant service to the society.

The rank is conferred by a two-thirds majority vote of the entire STC board of directors, based on the recommendation of a nominating committee. It is an honorary life membership.

An honorary fellow may not be necessarily chosen every year; and more than one honorary fellow may be selected in a given year.
