2000-2001 Online & Publications Competition

What images does the history of the technical communication profession evoke? Sometimes, the tools and techniques of the trade. At other times, the creativity and passion of its participants. The history of technical communication can be traced most significantly through the effects its products and people have made on the past, present, and future world. What have we changed in the profession? How can we make communication clearer?
You may find the answers to these questions as you permit your colleagues to evaluate your work as a technical communicator — in the twenty-sixth annual STC-RMC Online and Publications Competition!

The goal of the competition is to exemplify and encourage excellence in the profession of technical communication. We offer multiple competitions so that technical ideas expressed in many different media can be evaluated, recognized, and shared.

If you are a technical communicator or a student of technical communication, you are eligible to submit entries. You do not have to be a member of the STC. You may enter your own work or the work of a colleague or subordinate.

Entries must be suitable for public display and perusal. The submitter, not the STC, must determine whether any proprietary information in the entry may be revealed. The submitter, not the STC, is responsible for ensuring that the entry contains no classified information. Neither the STC nor anyone associated with the Technical Publications and Online Competitions can be held responsible for loss of or damage to an entry.

An awards reception honoring all competition participants and celebrating this year's competition will be held in the Denver area in March 2001. All winning entries will be on display. Those entries that were sent to the International Competitions also will be displayed.

Appetizers will be served in an informal atmosphere, allowing you to interact with both the competition participants and your colleagues. Tickets may be purchased in advance at a minimal charge. More details about the reception will be available in technicalities and on this Web page at a later date.
