Coordinator of Educational Technology

This position will be jointly supervised by the Boulder Campus Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic and Campus Computing and the Dean of the School of Education (SOE). Primary supervision and evaluation will be the responsibility of the SOE and will be implemented by the Dean.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • 40%  
    Assist faculty in the SOE to learn about and experiment with technology tools (whiteboards, projection systems, digital cameras, etc.) and to develop applications to support teaching and research. In conjunction with SOE faculty members and Information Technology Services (ITS), identify technology enhanced learning programs and assist in the exploration and use of advanced support tools.
  • 20%  
    Work closely with ITS and the SOE technology team to assess SOE instructional and research technology needs and to address issues and resolve problems as they arise. Utilize the ITS coordinator to access other ITS resources as needed. Meet with ITS and the SOE technology team regularly to convey project status reports, request needed assistance, and exchange information.
  • 15%  
    Coordinate the SOE technology team, as time permits, to assist faculty members to troubleshoot desktop hardware and software problems, install software, and locate support resources outside the SOE.
  • 5%  
    Coordinate the work of student assistants by assigning faculty projects to students, helping them get the projects off the ground, establishing measures of effectiveness, holding student workers accountable for results and evaluating student job performance.
  • 5%  
    Meet regularly with other distributed academic computing support consultants to share information, compare notes and develop a campus level view of instructional support needs.

    Create periodic written reports of projects status. Evaluation - in consultation with the AVC, ITS and the SOE technology team, assist in the development of criteria for evaluating the success of the Distributed Academic Support (DACS) Program and in gathering and providing feedback about successes and areas for improvement of the instructional technology implementation in the SOE.

    Grant writing - in consultation with SOE faculty, develop a process to solicit potential funding for instructional technology projects (including internal and external funding) and assist in the writing of grant proposals.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree with some preparation in general education and/or teacher education or at least two years of experience in providing instructional technology user support.
  • Minimum of three years knowledge of and experience in (a) computer hardware and software, including Macintosh and Windows operating systems, and (b) local area networks as they apply to the instructional use of technology in schools and universities.
  • Excellent communications, leadership, project management and presentation skills.
  • Ability to provide outstanding customer service to a diverse and large constituency and the ability to work effectively with faculty, students and staff members.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Background and/or experience in instructional applications of technology in school and university settings.
  • Strong background in current research in technology and its application to educational practice.
  • Experience in the use and design of computer resources about computer technologies (e.g., PowerPoint, Excel, e-mail, web-based applications, etc.).
  • Knowledge of instructional software tools suitable for school and college level instruction.
  • Expertise in statistical and other data analysis software.
  • Familiarity with resources (including personnel as well as technology) on the CU-Boulder campus.

Appointment and Salary

This is a 12-month, 1.0 FTE position. The successful candidate will be hired as a professional exempt employee. Starting annual salary range will be $45,000 - $47,000. Benefits include 22 working days vacation, 10 working days sick leave, and 10 paid holidays.

Position requires a Bachelors degree or equivalent experience.  1-2 years prior technical writing experience preferred.  Must be accurate, thorough, with a good attention to detail.  Must be able to use analytical and logical thinking.  Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing priorities is a must.  Familiarity with MS Windows, database applications or MS Access, and Internet Explorer desired.
Candidate must have patience and the organizational skills to test, retest, and record problems and ensure they have been corrected.  Most importantly, interpersonal skills are needed to gather information and communicate with associates.  Curiousity and the desire to understand and solve problems is essential.

SDL is looking for a contract UK English linguistic tester to perform QA tasks for an online payment website operated by our client. The work wouldv  take place at SDL's offices in Boulder under the direction of a test lead.

Required:

  • Hybrid linguist/engineer

Potentially 6-week assignment--2 weeks in October, remainder in January/February. There may be some downtimes between builds when testers would be sent home or asked not to come in.
