The Information Engineers, Inc. is seeking a Senior Information Engineer (Sr. IE) in northern Colorado for a long-term, part-time subcontract project that will start immediately. The Sr. IE will be responsible for producing manuals for a client’s hardware product. Because the Sr. IE will work at home most of the time, he/she must have Broadband Internet connections and own current versions of FrameMaker and Acrobat. The Sr. IE must have a very advanced understanding of FrameMaker, including the use of conditional text. It would be preferable that the Sr. IE also have at least some experience using FrameScript.

Job Duties:

  • Develop drafts and final manuals using a pre-defined template. The template heavily uses conditional text and FrameScript to produce multiple manuals from a single source. 
  • Research available engineering information and interview engineers and other technical personnel to gather necessary inputs to document the product. 
  • Attend weekly project meetings at the client’s worksite in Fort Collins. 

Required Qualifications:

  • BS/MS in technical communications, or BS/MS in electrical engineering with training in technical communications. 
  • At least 5 years of technical writing experience, with 2 or more years of experience documenting hardware products. Must have a solid understanding of hardware product development cycles.
