Technical Writer/Editor - Contract Full Time
Company: Purple Sage Design
Location: Denver

Required qualifications:

Candidate must be able to:

  • Propose creative solutions within existing style guide and writing/editing 
      standards
  • Produce high-quality communication products and/or services that are based on sound research, analysis, and synthesis of information
  • Provide writing/editing services that are scientific in nature
  • Provide deliverables such as outreach documents or collateral material, reports, Web pages, scripts, newsletters, press releases, and fact sheets

Responsibilities include:

  • Research, write (define and conceptualize), and revise various documents, 
      manuscripts, and/or publications
  • Prepare and provide guidance on communications planning techniques
    Perform various levels of technical editing (light edit, moderate edit, 
      heavy edit/rewrite)
  • Coordinate the review, editing, and approval process for finalizing reports, 
      manuscripts, documents, articles, and Web content
  • Convert files or develop new files using Microsoft Word. This will generally 
      include: documents, manuscripts, and fact sheets and the use of advanced 
      macro functions and formatting
  • Perform word-processing services using Microsoft Word. Use advanced-level 
      formatting on tasks assigned (e.g., apply document templates, apply formatting styles, track changes, use custom macros, etc.)
  • Write Web content including home pages, landing pages, and content pages

Desired qualifications:

  • 7 years technical writing experience
  • In depth knowledge of renewable energy technologies
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail

Technical Writer

Location: Golden or Telecommute

Golden Software, Inc., a leading scientific software company, seeks a full-time Technical Writer for end-user software documentation.
 
Responsibilities:


Develop context-sensitive help content for Windows-based digitizing software by working with the software and interviewing subject matter experts, users, and technical support specialists.
 
Requirements:

  • Experience writing end-user documentation for software
  • Ability to write for a highly technical audience
  • Ability to learn software quickly, analyze software capabilities, and explain software usage
  • Ability to interview subject matter experts
  • Ability to research technical subjects
  • Experience with help authoring tools (RoboHelp® preferred but not necessary)
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Excellent project management skills including the ability to define needs, communicate schedules, and solve problems

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Familiarity with digitizing software
  • Creating graphics for online help
  • Experience in a technical field
     

The technical writer’s performance will be evaluated based on the technical accuracy and quality of the help content.
