Although the STC at large has been a great resource for me to learn more about the career and craft of technical communication, it’s my involvement at a local level that has been the greatest benefit for me. The Rocky Mountain Chapter is privileged to have among its members some of the luminaries in our field and because of that our chapter meetings are top notch. I’d really like to thank whoever it was that encouraged me to volunteer for the first time, but I don’t remember who that was. Through my volunteer efforts for the chapter I have gained knowledge, confidence, and exposure as well as the opportunity to hone my leadership skills. My managers at my day job have even acknowledged this growth in my performance reviews. Plus the camaraderie of getting to know like-minded professionals has been delightful.
